Run your Susu without the chasing.

Throw is a savings circle app for the Susu, Pardner, Ajo or Tontine you already run. It keeps the dates, the payout order, the reminders and the receipts. Everyone pays bank to bank, and Throw never holds the money.

In testing on iPhone now. The App Store release is coming soon.

The Family Susu in Throw: £100 per hand each month, three members, and a green banner saying it is your turn to receive £400. Below it, the payout timeline: Mei Chen paid out, Adaeze Okafor now, Rafael Costa on 1 January, Mei Chen on 1 February.

Set it up once. Then the pot goes round.

Throw does the parts that usually land on the organiser: working out the dates, keeping the order, reminding people and keeping count. Read the full guide to how Throw works.

  1. Set up your circle

Give it a name, choose the amount, how often everyone pays and how many hands. Throw works out the pot and every payout date.

Step 1 of 6 in Throw: Name your Susu. The name is Family Susu, and Susu is selected as what the community calls it, from options including Pardner, Ajo, Esusu, Tontine, Daret, Committee and ROSCA.
  2. Invite on WhatsApp

Share one link to your group chat. People join with the invite code, and you can see who is in before you start.

Your Susu is ready: the Family Susu invite, with an invite code, a preview of the invite message and a green Share on WhatsApp button.
  3. Everyone pays bank to bank

Each member approves their payment in their own banking app. It goes straight to whoever is receiving this time, and the record updates for everyone.

Pay this cycle: you are paying £100 to Efua Asante, secured by open banking. What happens next: choose your bank and approve the payment in your bank app, your bank sends £100 straight to Efua, and Throw records the confirmation in the Susu ledger.
  4. The pot goes round

Everyone can see whose turn it is, who has paid and what comes next. Reminders go out before each date, so you don’t have to send them.

Whose turn is it? The payout timeline: cycle 1, Mei Chen, £400 received. Cycle 2, Adaeze Okafor, receiving now, two of three paid. Then Rafael Costa and Mei Chen, with their dates.

Call it what your family calls it.

A Susu, a Pardner, an Ajo, a Tontine, a Committee. Pick the word your group already uses, and Throw uses it everywhere: in the reminders, the receipts and the group room.

It’s Adaeze’s turn to receive the Susu on 1 December.

Something else at home? Type your own word when you set it up.

The Throw home screen: next action, pay £100 to Efua Asante for the Family Susu Plus, due 2 November. Below, the circle card shows Efua Asante receiving £400 this cycle.

Made for the one who holds it together.

Most circles run on one person’s memory and a WhatsApp thread. Throw gives that person a clear record and gives everyone else a clear view.

  • Reminders go out before every due date, so you stop chasing.

Your money never sits with us.

Throw keeps the record. Your bank moves the money.

  • Throw never holds your money

Each contribution goes from the payer’s bank straight to the member receiving the pot. The only money paid to Throw is its own small fee.

  • You approve every payment in your bank

Payments are started by Yapily Connect Ltd, authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 827001). Throw itself is not FCA-regulated.

  • One record everyone can see

Every payment, who made it and its status, in a ledger the whole group shares. Nobody keeps a private version.

  • Account changes are announced

If someone changes the account their pot is paid into, the group is told, and people paying them see a warning for the next 7 days.

Transparent record: the ledger lists every contribution, with who paid, the cycle, the amount of £100 and its status, either due or confirmed bank payment.

A small fee, paid once.

Each member pays a monthly price for the length of the circle, charged once at the start with one bank approval. No subscription and no card.

Questions people ask

Does Throw hold our money?

No. Every contribution goes from the payer’s bank account straight to the member receiving the pot that cycle. Throw records the payment and shows its status. The only money paid to Throw is its own fee.

Is my money safe?

You approve each payment yourself, in your own banking app. Payments are started by Yapily Connect Ltd, which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 827001). Throw never has access to your bank account.

A savings circle still runs on trust between its members. Throw doesn’t guarantee or insure contributions, so join circles with people you know.

What if someone doesn’t pay?

Throw reminds them before the due date and tells the organiser when a payment is late. The rules your group agrees at the start decide the grace period and what happens next, and everything is recorded where the whole group can see it.

Members can ask for more time, swap turns or hand their place to someone else. Throw doesn’t cover missed payments.

What does it cost?

£1.49 per member per month on Standard, or £2.49 on Plus, for the length of the circle. It’s charged once at the start with one bank approval, so there are no monthly charges. The organiser can run the group for free.

Which banks work?

Most UK banks and building societies that support open banking payments. You choose your bank in Throw, then approve the payment in your banking app. For now, payments are in pounds from UK accounts.
